Technical Training Group Appoints Directors for 2011-12

At its Annual General Meeting on September 14th, the Technical Training Group (TTG)
introduced its Slate of Directors for 2011-12. “If past performance is a good indicator of
future performance, look for TTG to really excel in 2011-12,” says newly appointed Chair
Bob Allen, President, Accumetal Manufacturing Inc. “I want to thank Past Chair, Kent
Johnston, for a job well done. Under Kent’s leadership, we expanded our programming
and with that experience under our belts, we are now full steam ahead.” The meeting,
with 35 in attendance, was hosted by Director, Maryann Cox, at Factory 163.

The key to TTG’s success is its ability to adapt as necessary to meet local community
training needs. “Training versatility, successful partnership collaboration and
perseverance pretty much sums up our strengths,” says Business Manager, Shawn
Bontaine. He continues, “Whether it’s our volunteer Board of Directors or paid personnel,
there is no shortage of commitment, talent or ingenuity.”

TTG moved into a cross-sector partnership with Off the Wall Stratford Artists Alliance
this past summer to offer a 6-week Introduction to Theatre Arts. In the near future, two
funding announcements will take TTG into the pre-apprenticeship realm and youth green
energy projects.

TTG, a Ministry-approved Training Delivery Agent offers Welder Apprenticeship Level 1,
2 & 3 training. Classes are now registered for late September 2011. Its reputation as a
quality deliverer of Custom Weld training-specific packages has grown substantially in
two short years. Electrical and plumbing prep courses were launched in 08-09 and over
75 trainees have enrolled to learn the trade basics. TTG and its partners (St Michael and
Northwestern S. S.) have introduced over 2,000 youth (7-14) and 500 student volunteers
to its youth trades’ exposure programming.
