About the Course

This half-day course is for trainees who have successfully completed the Working at Heights (CPO approved) training program.

This Working at Heights Refresher Program is delivered by Mentor Safety Consultants PRO-34577.

This Working at Heights Refresher reinforces key concepts and required learning out comes for workers who are exposed to the danger of falls from heights at Ontario construction projects.

Course Content:

Working at Heights Practical Equipment Module Refresher (4.0 Hours)

  • Barriers and Safety Nets
  • Personal Fall Protection Equipment
  • Anchor Points
  • Work Positioning Systems
  • Platforms Rescue Planning

Program Objectives: The purpose of Working at Heights training is to establish a threshold criterion of high quality, consistent training for Ontario workers who work at heights. This strengthens workplace safety culture, improves worker knowledge and helps reduce the number of fall-related incidents, injuries, and fatalities.

The refresher training will update learners on any legislative, regulatory or equipment (technological) changes, which may impact working at heights.

Prerequisites: Participants must have a valid Working at Heights Chief Prevention Officer learner number (located on CPO issued card). If you do not have your CPO issued card, call 1-877-202-0008 and ask for your CPO learner number. This must be presented to the trainer at the start of class.

Only learners who have successfully completed a CPO Approved Working at Heights training program delivered by CPO approved Working at Heights training provider are eligible to take refresher training and receive a new CPO proof of completion card.

Who would benefit: Anyone who took a CPO approved Working at Heights program 3 or more years ago. Anyone who works at a height of 3 meters or higher must be trained by a CPO Approved Working at Heights provider.

Regulations and Guidelines: Working at Heights training is valid for three (3) years from the date of successful completion of the original Chief Prevention Officer approved program. All learners who wish to maintain the validity of their Working at Heights training past this three-year period need to successfully complete Refresher training.

Required: Photo I.D. must be present at the beginning of class. Proper footwear is required, no open-toe shoes or high heeled shoes allowed.

This is a Chief Prevention Officer Approved course. Upon completion, learners will be compliant with the Occupations Health and Safety Act in Ontario with regard to working at heights.
